Rare 1800s quilt likely made for French royalty. Its generous size and elegant drape were intended for high, double-sized beds. Features intricate “reserve application” artwork in a deep indigo hue. Color is achieved through multiple dips in indigo dye. Minimal exposure to natural light has preserved its vibrant color. Quilt design includes a pomegranate motif created through a delicate wax-resist technique. Made in France.
