We've been buying Yensy’s entire crop since 2020. Our relationship with her began just before the pandemic, during a sourcing trip that introduced us to a group of producers known as Los Naranjos. All the coffees we tasted from San Agustín were impressive, but Yensy’s stood out immediately—rising to the top in a blind cupping of more than 40 samples.
When we finally visited Finca La Esperanza in March 2025, we got to see firsthand what makes her coffee so special. On paper, the farm doesn’t look flashy: it sits at a solid elevation, with healthy, well-maintained plants, a basic washing setup, and a raised drying greenhouse that also happens to be Yensy’s favorite place to sleep. No experimental fermentation, no high-tech equipment—just incredibly clean, skillfully grown and processed coffee. What sets it apart is the clarity and expressiveness in the cup, season after season.
Her Pink Bourbon lots are typically the most tropical, sweet, and fruit-forward coffees we buy each year. Expect layered notes of kiwi, passion fruit, papaya, mango, and watermelon, with a soft jasmine and white tea quality in the aftertaste. The sweetness is front and center—round, lush, and jammy—but never overbearing.
Beyond her coffee, Yensy is emerging as a local leader. She recently earned a seat on the council of her vereda (neighborhood), a rare role for a young woman in a region where leadership often trends older and male. Her influence is growing, and we’re proud to support both her work and her voice.
This is a coffee—and a producer—we look forward to year after year. When you're serving it, you're not just offering something delicious; you're sharing the story of a relationship built on trust, consistency, and shared values.
